The total trailer weight limit is 750 kg, and you must obtain BE certification to drive with a heavier load. Those planning to drive a taxi are required to hold B/Far certification.

An individual who is at least 20 years old and holds a full driving license can obtain B/Far (BFF) certification.

How much theoretical training is required for B/Far certification?

You need to complete 68 lessons. This consists of the basic part of the course along with 16 lessons from the advanced part. In total, this equals approximately 13 working days. The breakdown is as follows:

Traffic Theory – 12 lessons

Traffic Psychology – 12 lessons

First Aid – 16 lessons

Vehicle Mechanics – 12 lessons

Travel and Passenger Studies – 16 lessons

How many driving lessons do I need to take?

You need to take 3 practical driving lessons, plus the exam session, totaling 4 hours.

What do I need to do to be allowed to tow a trailer heavier than 750kg?

Price List for B/Far Certification

The price for B/Far certification is ISK 200,000, which includes theoretical and practical training as well as the practical exam session. Please note that if additional practical lessons are required beyond the 3 mentioned above, they must be paid for separately.

For those who already hold C or C1 certification, the course fee is reduced to ISK 100,000, but the same number of practical driving lessons must still be completed.
